Project Under the Sea

Project Run and Play
It's been awhile. A long while! I'll post more on that later but what better way to jump back in to the sewing community than with Project Run and Play! I was lucky enough to participate in the release of their newest collection "Under the Sea". I popped in to help test a friend and fellow designer, Susana of Suco by Susana's fabulous contributions - and her patterns are always so fun to sew - with beautiful results.

Susana released the Seaside Shorts and Reef Top, which you can see modelled by my Róisín here. The shorts  are so cute and functional and quick to make. It's winter here but I will be making a few more pairs of these for the kids when spring rolls around.

I found this gorgeous print from Spotlight and couldn't resist! This pattern is so versatile and it even offers an elastic back waistband option, so your hard work can grow with your child.
The Reef top is a seriously fast sew. I have reached a new level of sewing where my 11 year old loves to put on a movie and assemble my patterns for me - this is a life hack that I am over the moon about! From the time the assembled patterns were handed over to me to the final product finished was about an hour. Without a million interruptions from my children, it could have been faster. So satisfying!

I added a bit of Rick Rack to the hems and it turned out SO cute!

Paired together and these patterns are *chefs kiss*!

This collection is full of treats and when I saw Ajaire from Call Ajaire's gorgeous Morgana zip up, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for for swimming lessons.

This ended up being a genius idea, if I do say so myself! I bought two of these beautiful bath towels from Kmart and they were more than enough for my fabric requirements. I sized up one size on what my daughter measured on the chart, because this was a pattern designed for stretch material and there is no stretch in bath towels. Now - the reason I say this was genius is because I lined up my pattern pieces against the finished edged of the towel and because I did so, I didn't have to finish a single edge myself! Work smarter, not harder my friends!

This is such a cute pattern and my girl is stylin when she jumps out of the pool after a long session of the backstroke! All the gorgeous patterns from the Project under the sea patterns are 20% off now so head over HERE and check out all the amazing patterns the designers have released. Way to go guys!! Sun-Sational!
