Little Sewing School: Lesson five
After a brief hiatus for the release of our City Lights Cape collaboration with Project Run and Play we are back with Little Sewing School! This week we have a fun and practical project that I'm sure you'll find useful and a great learning experience for your little one. This drawstring bag is perfect for swim lessons, a library book carrier, a kinder/preschool tote, an airport carry on or to fill with fun arts and crafts to keep your little one entertained on a restaurant outing. I have designed this bag to be a quick and easy sew, a great...
Little Sewing School: Lesson four
When my firstborn was about to be born, my grandmother and I sat down at my kitchen table and made two buntings to decorate her little room. I had gone to the fabric store and had too much fun picking all the fun prints I wanted because I only needed little strips of each. Soon after Lottie came and little did I know she wouldn't sleep in that room once, she would stayed cuddled up with me until we moved back to Australia (and long after!). Those buntings however have been to everyone of my kids birthday parties, their cousins too....
Little Sewing School: Lesson three
Today is a fun project whether you're little or grown. It's a fast and easy sew with a satisfying finished product and you'll have a hard time stopping with just one! Envelope Pillows! No zippers, buttons or other intimidating closures, just a few straight seams and you've got yourself fun pillows ready to spruce up your sofa, bed or pillow fort. I did my shopping for this project at a well known Scandinavian store that most people can find locally to make this project extra simple to follow along with - but have no fear, if you can't (or don't...
Little Sewing School: Lesson two
My girls hairstyle of choice this last year has been the side ponytail - or the Si-Po as we now affectionately refer to it as. Now my eighties ladies (ok, ok, I was 7 when the eighties ended but I WAS there for the whole seven years!) what goes better with a Si-Po than a scrunchie? That's right, nothing! So our first sewing project will be none other than the eighties classic - the Scrunchie! Can you smell the Aquanet already? Alright then, lets get started - and after this project you're going to want to fill your Caboodle full...
Little Sewing School: Lesson One
Today we are kicking off our very first lesson in our 12 part series Little Sewing School! This course is aimed at teaching your little one how to use the sewing machine and then creating a different and fun project each week. We will start out very simply, learning the basics of the machine and then we'll move on gradually to new projects, developing their skills and confidence along the way. This course is designed with you guiding your child through each lesson and is not meant or recommended for your child to go at it alone. Children should be supervised...
